One request

How your request works

You tell us once. The 8 Top Movers moving team does the calling around and brings back written quotes.

  1. Tell us once

Pick a container size, the delivery ZIP, a target date and whether your driveway has room. Add a destination ZIP if the container is moving with you.

  2. The team gets quotes

The 8 Top Movers moving team asks container and storage companies for rates for your ZIP and dates, and brings back written quotes.

  3. You compare and choose

Read the quotes side by side. Nothing is booked until you say yes, and you never pay us.

The driveway plan

Which container fits your move?

Most portable containers come in a few lengths, commonly about 8, 12 and 16 feet. Sizes vary by company. Here is roughly what each holds, drawn to one scale.

  • About 8 feet

Roughly one room: a studio’s furniture and boxes, or the contents of a room during a remodel.

  • About 12 feet

Roughly two to three rooms, often enough for a small apartment.

  • About 16 feet

Roughly three to four rooms. A larger home may need more than one container.

Drawn to one scale. Sizes vary by company, and some offer only one or two, so the written quote names the exact container and its inside dimensions. Not sure? Pick your home size on the form and ask the company to confirm which container fits.

Three checks before delivery day

These decide whether a container works for you, and what it costs.

  • Space and permits

The container needs a flat spot, and the delivery truck needs room to set it down, with nothing low overhead. Ask the company how much space it needs. On the street, many cities want a permit, and an HOA may have its own rules. Check both before delivery day.

  • How long you need it

Containers are usually rented by the month. Know your delivery date and roughly how long you will keep it, and ask how a part month is billed.

  • Hold or haul

Decide whether the container stays with you, goes to the company’s storage site, or moves to your new address. Each is priced differently, so ask for the one you need.

Before you book

Get it in writing

A written quote is what you can hold a company to. Before you say yes, make sure it covers these.

  • The container

Its length and inside dimensions, so you know what fits.

  • Dates

Drop-off and pickup dates or windows, and the delivery date at the new address for a move.

  • The monthly rate

What a month costs, when billing starts, and how a part month is charged.

  • Transport and fees

The cost to move it, plus any fuel, redelivery or cancellation fees.

  • Where it is stored

If it goes to a storage site: where, whether that space is climate-controlled, and how you get to your things.

  • Damage protection

What covers your belongings, what it costs, and what it leaves out.

Questions

Questions people ask

Straight answers about the request, the money and the container itself.

Still asking? Call (866) 483-0163
Does asking for quotes commit me to anything?

No. A request is not a booking. You get written quotes to compare, and nothing is booked until you say yes to one of them.

Who handles my request?

The 8 Top Movers moving team. It asks container and storage companies for rates for your ZIP and dates and brings back written quotes. Global Elegance Moving and Logistics shares ownership with 8 Top Movers, and both are named in the consent on the form.

Do I pay Top Storage Pods anything?

No. You never pay us. We are an advertising and marketing company, and may be compensated by movers in our network. No company pays to appear on this site.

What size container do I need?

As a rough guide, an 8-foot container holds about one room, a 12-foot about two to three rooms, and a 16-foot about three to four rooms. Sizes vary by company, so check the inside dimensions on the written quote.

Can the container go on the street?

Often, but many cities require a permit for a container on a public street, and an HOA or building may have its own rules. Check with both before delivery day, and ask the company how much space its truck needs.

Can the container be stored somewhere other than my driveway?

Many container companies can take a loaded container to their own storage site and bring it back later or deliver it to your new address. Ask where it would be kept, whether that space is climate-controlled, and what it costs each month, in writing.

Can I call instead of filling in the form?

Yes. Call (866) 483-0163 and the 8 Top Movers moving team takes the same details over the phone.
